Effective Date 07-15-26
These Online Course Access Terms and Conditions govern the purchase of and access to online courses, paid video tutorials, downloadable course materials, and related course support offered through VintageHairstyling.com, which is owned and operated by HRST Books LLC. In these terms, “VintageHairstyling.com,” “HRST Books LLC,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to HRST Books LLC, and “Course” refers to any paid online course, tutorial, lesson, video, downloadable course material, or other restricted content made available through VintageHairstyling.com.
These terms supplement our general Terms of Use and Privacy and Cookie Policy, and in the event of any conflict between these Online Course Access Terms and Conditions and the general Terms of Use as they relate to an online course, these Online Course Access Terms and Conditions will control.
Agreement to These Terms
By purchasing, receiving, or accessing a Course, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Online Course Access Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them, and your agreement may be recorded electronically when you check an agreement box, submit an order, activate complimentary access, or access Course content through your account; if you do not agree to these terms, you must not purchase or access a Course.
Nature of the Purchase
Purchasing a Course does not transfer ownership of the Course or its contents to you, and instead provides you with a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, and revocable license to access the Course through VintageHairstyling.com under these terms. Course access is licensed to one individual and may not be sold, assigned, transferred, sublicensed, or shared with another person. Unless a Course description expressly states otherwise, purchasing a Course does not include:
- ownership of the Course videos or materials;
- the right to download or save Course videos;
- unlimited private instruction or individual coaching;
- professional certification, academic credit or cosmetology continuing-education credit;
- access to future Courses or products; or
- a guarantee that a particular hairstyle, technique or result will be achieved.
Account Requirement
You must create and maintain a VintageHairstyling.com account to access purchased Courses, and Course access will be associated with the account and email address used for the purchase or assigned to the purchase by us. You are responsible for providing accurate account information, maintaining access to your registered email address, and protecting your username and password; you may not share your account credentials or allow another person to use your account to access Course content.
If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, you must contact us promptly, and we may require reasonable verification of your identity, purchase, or eligibility before providing, restoring, or transferring Course access.
If you voluntarily close or request deletion of your account, you may lose access to Courses associated with that account, and Course access may not be recoverable after account information and related records have been deleted.
Access Period
Unless a Course product page states a specific access period, a Course purchase provides ongoing online access while:
- the Course remains available through VintageHairstyling.com;
- you maintain an active user account;
- your payment has not been refunded, reversed or disputed;
- you comply with these terms; and
- VintageHairstyling.com continues to operate the applicable Course platform.
“Ongoing access” does not mean permanent, perpetual, or lifetime access, and we do not guarantee that a Course will remain available for the lifetime of the purchaser, the website, HRST Books LLC, or any particular technology or platform. Course access is delivered online, and unless we expressly state otherwise, no physical copy, permanent offline copy, or downloadable copy of the Course videos is included. You may watch a Course more than once during the access period, subject to reasonable technical and security limitations.
Course Availability and Removal
We may correct, update, reorganize, replace, rerecord, suspend or discontinue any Course or portion of a Course. Reasons may include, without limitation:
- outdated or inaccurate information;
- discontinued or materially changed hairstyling tools or products;
- safety concerns;
- copyright, trademark or other legal concerns;
- changes involving our website, software, video host or Course platform;
- security concerns or unauthorized distribution;
- technical limitations;
- instructor availability; or
- changes to our business or Course offerings.
When reasonably practical, we may provide advance notice, replacement content, an alternative lesson, or another accommodation, but we do not guarantee that advance notice or replacement content will always be available, and removal, replacement, or modification of Course content does not automatically entitle a purchaser to a refund or store credit except where required by applicable law. Access applies to the current version of the Course, and purchasing a Course does not provide a right to retain access to earlier versions, removed lessons, outdated materials, or archived editions.
Temporary Interruptions
Course access may occasionally be interrupted by maintenance, updates, hosting problems, internet outages, software conflicts, security events or failures involving third-party providers.
We will use reasonable efforts to restore access to Course content following a problem within our control. Temporary interruptions do not entitle a purchaser to a refund, extension or store credit unless required by law or expressly offered by us.
Technical Requirements
You are responsible for having the equipment, software and internet connection necessary to access the Course, and course access may require compatible devices, appropriate software, and a stable internet connection.
- a reasonably current web browser;
- a reliable internet connection capable of streaming video;
- an active email address;
- cookies or other account-authentication technology;
- speakers, headphones or another audio output;
- software capable of opening PDF files; and
- sufficient device storage if you choose to download Course handouts.
We do not guarantee that Course content will work on every device, browser, operating system, internet connection, or assistive technology, and before purchasing you are responsible for reviewing the Course description and determining whether your equipment and internet service meet the stated requirements.
Course Language and Captions
Unless otherwise stated on the Course product page, Courses are presented in spoken English and include English captions, and captions and transcripts are provided as learning and accessibility aids; although we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, they may contain typographical, timing, or transcription errors, and translations into other languages are not included unless expressly stated.
Downloadable Course Materials
A Course may include downloadable PDFs, tools lists, step images, written instructions, worksheets or other supporting materials, and you may download and print a reasonable number of copies of these materials for your own individual use, but you may not:
- distribute printed or digital copies to another person;
- upload materials to a website, social-media account, shared drive, artificial-intelligence service or file-sharing service;
- sell, license or give the materials to clients, students or members of a class;
- remove copyright, trademark or ownership notices;
- use the materials as handouts in a class, salon, school, presentation or workshop; or
- adapt the materials to create another tutorial, course, book, article, video or commercial product.
Downloadable materials may not remain available indefinitely, so you are encouraged to download and save any permitted Course handouts while your Course access is active; however, your ability to retain an authorized personal copy of a Course handout does not grant continuing access to Course videos or permission to redistribute the handout.
Permitted Use of Skills Learned
You may apply the hairstyling and beauty techniques you learn through a Course to yourself, and professional hairstylists and other beauty professionals may also apply learned techniques when providing services to their own clients, unless a Course description expressly states otherwise; however, this permission applies only to the skills and knowledge you personally learn and does not permit you to:
- display Course videos to clients, coworkers or students;
- use Course materials to train employees or other professionals;
- present our instructional wording, lesson structure, photographs, diagrams or demonstrations as your own;
- copy the Course when creating your own class or instructional product;
- claim that completion of the Course provides a professional license or certification; or
- suggest that you are employed, certified, sponsored or endorsed by HRST Books LLC, VintageHairstyling.com or Lauren Rennells.
Taking personal notes while watching a Course is permitted. Copying or substantially reproducing Course narration, captions, instructions or lesson structure is not.
Ownership and Copyright
All Course videos, audio, photographs, graphics, demonstrations, written instructions, downloads, lesson arrangements, branding and other Course content are owned by or licensed to HRST Books LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark and other applicable laws. The Course remains the intellectual property of HRST Books LLC even after access has been purchased. No rights are granted except the limited access and use rights expressly described in these terms.
Prohibited Conduct
You may not:
- share, sell, lend or transfer your Course account or login credentials;
- permit group viewing of a Course;
- play or display a Course in a salon, classroom, school, club, event, workshop or other group setting;
- copy, download, record, screen-record, photograph, capture or reproduce Course videos;
- extract or distribute Course audio, captions or transcripts;
- upload Course content or materials to social media, video platforms, websites, cloud folders or file-sharing services;
- upload Course content to an artificial-intelligence system or use it to train, evaluate or develop an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning system;
- use automated tools to scrape, capture, index, transcribe or extract Course content;
- translate, adapt, modify or create derivative instructional materials from the Course;
- remove or conceal copyright notices, watermarks, trademarks or ownership information;
- bypass or attempt to bypass a paywall, account requirement, video restriction, download control or other security feature;
- use Course content to create a substantially similar or competing course, lesson, book, video, handout or instructional product;
- falsely claim to be the creator, instructor, owner or authorized distributor of Course content; or
- use the Course in any unlawful or fraudulent manner.
Permission to use a technique you have learned does not grant permission to copy the way the technique is taught, demonstrated, photographed, filmed or described in the Course.
Course Questions and Support
Certain Courses may provide a method for submitting questions through the Course portal or another method stated in the Course. Course-question access is intended to provide reasonable clarification of information presented in the Course and is not unlimited private coaching or an individual hairstyling consultation. Questions should relate directly to the purchased Course, concern a specific lesson, instruction, or demonstrated technique, be submitted through the designated Course-question system, and include enough information for us to understand the issue. Before submitting a question, you should watch the applicable lesson and make a reasonable effort to practice the technique.
Course support does not include a guaranteed response within a particular number of hours or days, real-time or emergency assistance, review of an unlimited number of photographs or videos, step-by-step private instruction through an entire hairstyle, advice concerning medical conditions, allergic reactions, or injuries, individualized cosmetology, legal, or business advice, technical support for unrelated devices, software, or internet services, or answers to matters outside the scope of the Course. We may limit or decline repetitive, excessive, abusive, unrelated, or inappropriate requests.
We generally respond during our regular business days, and response times may vary based on the nature of the question, holidays, illness, travel, order volume, and other business demands. Course-question access remains available only while the Course and the purchaser’s account remain active, unless otherwise stated.
Information and Materials You Submit
You may choose to submit written questions, photographs or other information when requesting Course support, and you retain ownership of any original materials you submit. By submitting such materials, you authorize us to review, store and use them as reasonably necessary to answer your question, provide support, document the communication, protect our legal rights and administer the Course. Submitting a photograph or question privately does not give us permission to publish it in advertising, social media, another Course or any other public content, and we will obtain additional permission before using any privately submitted material publicly. You agree not to submit confidential information, another person’s private information, or a photograph of another person unless you have obtained proper permission to do so.
Educational Nature of the Courses
Courses are provided for educational and informational purposes. Results vary based on factors that may include:
- hair length, density, texture and condition;
- haircut and layering;
- prior chemical treatments;
- climate and humidity;
- the tools and products used;
- the learner’s experience and dexterity;
- the amount of practice completed; and
- differences between the learner’s hair and the hair shown in the demonstration.
A Course’s skill-level description is intended as a general guide only and may not reflect every individual learner’s experience of difficulty or ease, and we do not guarantee that you will be able to recreate any hairstyle exactly as demonstrated, achieve a specific appearance, master any technique within a particular timeframe, or obtain any particular personal or professional outcome, and dissatisfaction with an individual result does not mean the Course is defective or not as described.
Safety
You are responsible for using appropriate care while following Course instructions, and you must read and follow all safety instructions supplied by the manufacturers of hairstyling tools, heated appliances, cosmetics, and hair products. Stop using any technique or product if it causes pain, burning, unusual hair breakage, skin irritation, an allergic response, or any other unexpected reaction. Courses are not medical advice and are not a substitute for guidance from a physician, dermatologist, licensed cosmetologist, or other qualified professional. By choosing to perform any demonstrated technique, you accept the ordinary risks associated with hairstyling tools, hairpins, heated appliances, cosmetics, and beauty products.
Payment and Access Activation
Course access is normally activated after payment has been successfully processed and the order has been accepted, although access may be delayed while a payment, identity, order, or eligibility issue is reviewed. We may correct pricing, product-description, or checkout errors, and if we cannot fulfill a purchase because of an error, we may cancel the affected purchase and refund the amount collected for that Course. You are responsible for ensuring that the Course is purchased through the account under which you intend to access it.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Because Courses are digital products for which access is generally provided shortly after purchase, Course purchases are final and nonrefundable once access has been made available, except where a refund or other remedy is required by applicable law.
Please review the Course description, subject matter, skill level, language, access conditions, included materials and technical requirements before purchasing.
A refund will not ordinarily be provided because:
- you changed your mind;
- you did not begin or complete the Course;
- you no longer have time to watch the Course;
- you did not download an included handout;
- you expected a different result;
- the technique requires more practice than expected;
- your hair differs from the hair demonstrated;
- you do not have the recommended tools or supplies;
- your device or internet connection does not meet the technical requirements;
- you purchased the Course using the wrong account;
- you failed to maintain access to your registered email address or account; or
- Course content was later updated, reorganized or replaced.
If you believe that you were charged incorrectly or that we failed to provide the purchased access, contact us promptly so that we have a reasonable opportunity to investigate and correct the problem. We may choose to issue a refund, credit, account transfer, or other accommodation in an individual case, and a voluntary accommodation does not create an obligation to provide the same accommodation in another case or change this policy. Nothing in this policy limits any refund, cancellation, withdrawal, or consumer remedy that cannot legally be waived.
Immediate Digital Access and Statutory Withdrawal Rights
WWhen you request immediate access to a Course, you expressly request that delivery of the digital content and performance of the agreement begin before the expiration of any otherwise applicable cancellation or withdrawal period, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you acknowledge that beginning immediate access to digital content may cause you to lose a statutory right to cancel or withdraw from the purchase; however, any mandatory consumer rights that cannot legally be waived remain in effect.
Payment Reversals and Chargebacks
If a Course payment is refunded, reversed, canceled, or charged back, Course access associated with that payment may be suspended or terminated immediately. Before disputing a charge, please contact us so that we have an opportunity to identify the purchase, correct an access problem, or address an incorrect charge. Nothing in these terms prevents you from exercising a lawful right to dispute an unauthorized or incorrect payment, however knowingly obtaining Course access and then making a false or fraudulent payment dispute is prohibited.
Promotional, Bundled and Complimentary Access
Course access may occasionally be included with the purchase of a qualifying physical product, offered through a coupon or promotion, or provided without an additional charge. Promotional, bundled and complimentary Course access:
- has no cash value;
- may not be sold, transferred or exchanged;
- may require proof of a qualifying purchase;
- may be limited to one Course account per qualifying purchase;
- may have an activation deadline;
- remains subject to these terms; and
- may be revoked if the qualifying purchase is canceled, refunded, returned, disputed or found to be ineligible.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, receiving complimentary Course access does not entitle the recipient to a cash refund, store credit, or substitute product if the recipient does not use the Course, and if a physical product is returned after bundled Course access has been activated, we may deactivate the associated Course access; any treatment of the Course value as part of the physical-product refund will be governed by the offer presented at purchase and our applicable return policy.
Gifts
A Course may be given as a gift only when a gifting option is expressly offered by us, and Course access may not be transferred from one account to another merely because the purchaser intended the purchase for another person; gift recipients must create their own accounts and agree to these terms before accessing a Course.
Suspension and Termination of Access
We may suspend or terminate Course access when we reasonably believe that:
- account credentials have been shared;
- Course content has been copied, recorded or distributed;
- security controls have been bypassed or challenged;
- the account has been used fraudulently;
- payment has been reversed or disputed;
- submitted communications are abusive, threatening or harassing;
- these terms or the general Terms of Use have been violated; or
- continued access creates a legal, technical or security risk.
Where appropriate, we may request an explanation or require corrective action before restoring access, and serious or repeated violations may result in permanent termination without a refund, except where applicable law requires otherwise; termination does not eliminate copyright, confidentiality, payment, or other obligations that reasonably continue after access ends, and we reserve the right to pursue available legal remedies for copyright infringement, unauthorized distribution, account trafficking, fraud, or other unlawful conduct.
Third-Party Technology
We may use third-party services to host videos, process payments, manage accounts, deliver email, or operate Course features, and those services may experience outages, change their technical requirements, or discontinue features, and we are not responsible for the independent conduct or privacy practices of any third-party provider, and your use of any third-party service may also be subject to that provider’s own terms and policies.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Online Course Access Terms and Conditions to reflect changes to our Courses, technology, business practices, or legal obligations, and any revised terms will be posted with a new effective date. Changes will apply prospectively, and the terms in effect at the time of a Course purchase will generally continue to govern that purchase, except where a change is required by law, is reasonably necessary to protect Course security or intellectual property, or is otherwise accepted by the purchaser.
Relationship to Other Website Terms
These terms are incorporated into and should be read together with the VintageHairstyling.com Terms of Use and Privacy and Cookie Policy, and the disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing-law provisions, severability provisions, and other general website provisions contained in the Terms of Use also apply to Course purchases and access. If there is a conflict concerning Course access, Course use, Course refunds, or Course intellectual property, these Online Course Access Terms and Conditions will control.
