Vintage Beauty Problem Solving Home Remedies Beer

Beer as a vintage beauty home remedy?

Why yes.

This blog post use to be called what to do with your leftover PBR, but in order to appease the SEO gods…you know…Google, I have updated it to Hair Home Remedies the Vintage Way.

From the 1966 Dell purse book, 50 Styles for Problem Hair

“Whatever your hair texture, use a setting lotion to help hold your set. For most girls, the best bet is one of the many commercial preparations now on the market, but if your hair is very oily, try stale beer (it adds body, has a slight drying effect).”

Powdered milk for volume and body

Also the booklet suggests…

“If your hair is very limp and baby-fine, try a solution of one to two tablespoons of instant skimmed milk (start with one, increase if necessary) mixed with four ounces of water.”
