The vintage wedding hair feel with no particular decade in mind

A lot of the requests I get from brides for vintage wedding hair are not specific to any particular decade. This weekend, I had a bride come in for a practice run with the same type of request. She had some pictures of hairstyles she really liked and her wedding leans toward a vintage themed wedding, but the hairstyle she had picked out was not necessarily what I would consider vintage. It was pretty and feminine, but quite contemporary.

But it is not my place to push my agenda onto a bride. It is every bride’s choice as to how she wants to wear her hair and it isn’t my place to try to coax her into a box of what I think she should wear on her wedding day.

In my classes I try to teach that it is important to have communication between bride and stylist so that everyone knows everyone else’s expectations. It is the only way for the entire process to be enjoyable for everyone. The stylist should be having fun too. If the stylist is stressed to a breaking point and the bride is disappointed with what is happening, something went wrong.

Communicate, communicate, communicate. Listen. listen. listen. It will make everyone feel better about the end results.
