I am glad everyone found my posting on the Happy Pompadour so helpful. And I promised in that posting I would post how I did that to myself.
I am working with much shorter hair. It is still mostly above my shoulders as I try to grow it out a little. And the top layer is about 6-8 inches long and I have long bangs. I am keeping the bangs for the time being. I am finding that with my bangs too short it lessens my options, but I still like to have bangs for my lazy hairstyle days when I don’t touch a curling apparatus and just put it in a low pony tail holder a la Rev. Road Kate Winslet.
This is a pretty fast whip up. I just used a 1/2″ curling iron and all the hair on top of my head I curled forward.
Yes, I know it’s time for a retouch.
Once I got my hair in the little ponytail, and with my short hair, the ponytail holder was pulled all the way to the hairline. This still left me with very little to work with. Half the hair in the pony is bangs so I teased the hair underneath to get it full and smoothed over the outside with comb and spray.
It actually looked pretty cute without pinning the ends underneath and I may do that on another hairstyle later, but for these purposes I put the ends under.
I piled the rest of my hair on top in a curly mess and rosied it with my favorite scarf.

retouch? maybe a little more brassy in root area than I personally would prefer, but that is about 2 weeks of outgrowth for me lol. My baby fine hair can’t tolerate double processing more than once every 6-8 weeks. Love the look!
