The 1950s weren’t easy for anyone who didn’t fit the status quo and I am so encouraged by the courage of this woman.
I was on one of my favorite sites, www.glamourgirlsofthesilverscreen.com, which is great for finding images of actresses that you may have forgotten about. Or who may have only one or two major motion pictures to their credit.
I came across this beautiful statuesque red head with the best wing makeup and a beautiful beehive hair-do. I read her history on the site and saw that she is still around entertaining and has her own site, aleshiabrevard.com.
So I went to her site to learn more about her, since Glamour Girls wasn’t very detailed. And I saw why it wasn’t too detailed. It forgot to mention that this stunning red headed woman didn’t begin her life as a woman.
Her career started in a female impersination show in Vegas. During that time period she was going through the process of having a sexual reassignment. She ended up in Hollywood and is still in show business.
I will never ever complain about beauty being painful ever again. Because that kind of beauty takes real guts and courage.

I was surprised to find myself in your blog. Loved it. How sweet of you to comment on my 60’s persona. You’re right, “beauty isn’t that painful”. But don’t we all do what we must to survive — and look good doing it? It’s been a good life, made better by comments like yours.
Thank you,
